Things to do

One of the joys of Woodlands Country Park is the peace and quiet, and the laid-back, relaxing atmosphere. However, when you do want a little more excitement in your life, you’ll find plenty to do on the park, in the local area, across the Fylde and beyond.

On the park

With 45 acres of countryside to enjoy and explore, there’s plenty to do right on your doorstep at Woodlands. Take a walk in the woods or a stroll by the waterside. Get on your bike and cycle in safety around the park. You can even sit back and be indulged in Woodland’s very own on-site hair salon and beauty parlour.

Woodlands is also an angler’s paradise, with great fishing spots along the waterways and on the lake. You can join our regular fishing competitions, or simply cast a line from your own deck and relax.

In the town

A regular Britain in Bloom winner, and the world’s first Fair Trade town, Garstang is a traditional Lancashire town with real charm. Just a short drive from Woodlands, you’ll find a thriving community of shops and stores, pubs and restaurants just waiting to be discovered. Garstang’s historic produce market dates back 700 years, and is still held every Thursday, serving the famous Garstang Blue cheese.

Garstang also has its own leisure centre, for a gentle game of badminton with your new Woodlands friends, as well as Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club with its challenging course and welcoming clubhouse. Garstang also has a varied calendar of events throughout the year, including agricultural show, arts & music events and Victorian festival. Many of our residents also enjoy an afternoon game of bowls at Nateby.

Across the Fylde

From the bustling port of Fleetwood in the north, to the genteel tree-lined streets and exclusive boutiques of Lytham St Annes to the south, the Fylde Coast has so much variety on offer. Enjoy an ice cream on the promenade at St Annes. Enjoy the thrills and theatres of Blackpool. Take in the famous lights along the Golden Mile. There’s something for everyone along this famous stretch of seafront.

Inland, the cities of Preston and Lancaster are both within easy reach. Visit Preston Guildhall for snooker and shows, or take a walk around historic Lancaster with its famous castle.

....and beyond

With so much to do so close, you may never need to venture far. But if you do, you’ll discover some of Britain’s most beautiful scenery all under an hour’s drive. Head north to the Lake District, or head east to the Yorkshire Dales, both just 30 miles away. Plus the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies just a beyond Garstang.
