The bright lights of Blackpool offer a choice of no less than six theatres, including the legendary Tower Ballroom, while Preston has the famous Guildhall and Lancaster the Grand and the Dukes. You’ll find an even wider choice just along the motorway in Manchester, including Bridgewater Hall, home of the world renowned Halle Orchestra.
For the latest releases, check out the huge Odeon multi-screen in Preston, or indulge in a touch of cinema nostalgia at the Palace Cinema in Longridge, originally built in 1860. There is also the newly built Flower Bowl at Barton Grange offereing Cinema, Bowling, Adventure Golf or you could even try your hand at Curling!
The Championship football action of historic Preston North End is just a short drive away at Deepdale, while Fylde’s own football team, AFC Fylde are really going places in the lower leagues, with exceptional facilities at their Mill Farm ground. If you prefer rugby, Preston Grasshoppers are in action throughout the season to the north of the city of Preston.
Lytham St Annes boasts no less than four championship golf courses and is a regular host of prestigious international tournaments, including the Open Championship and the Ryder Cup.
A popular choice with many of our residents is Crown Green bowling at Nateby or Indoor Bowling at Newton Hall Bowling Centre near Blackpool, which is the biggest of its kind in Lancashire.
For a decidedly different day out, Woodlands couldn’t be better placed. You can take a walk on the wild side at Blackpool Zoo. You can take to the air with a range of pleasure flights from Blackpool Airport. You can even go skiing at just a short drive away at Chill Factore at the Trafford Centre. Plus, of course, visiting grand children will love the heart stopping thrill rides of Blackpool pleasure beach.
Alternatively, you can get away from it all and head to the hills with endless rambling trails within easy reach, taking you up mountains, down dales and along the seaside scenery of the Lancashire Coastal Way.
